Opprobrium 80 prot/ret paladin App

Postby Opprobrium on Wed Jan 13, 2010 11:50 pm

Character Name: Opprobrium
Character Class: Paladin
Character Race: Human
Character Level: 80
Your Age: 25
Are you a transfer?: No

Raid Experience: I raided extensively in vanilla WoW as a holy paladin with contingency. I was a 100% attendance raider throughout aq40 and Naxx progression. I was there for a number of server firsts including patchwerk. At the end of vanilla, contingency broke up and transferred off server. I took this opportunity to reroll as a human rogue gaebril and joined EL. I was there for their gruul, mag and most of SSC progression/The Eye. At that point I had a number of RL issues that I had to resolve and I took an 18 month break from the game. After finishing college and settling into a life on my own I rerolled my human paladin. At this point, I've cleared the first wing of ICC10/25 and ToC10/25. I've also killed most of the trivial content that no longer provides progression loot.

State the farthest / hardest boss you have (KILLED) for the following instance's.

• Serpentshrine Cavern (Pre-3.0 kills only): Lady Vashj
• The Eye (Pre-3.0 kills only): High Astromancer Solarian(this is when I took off)
• Mount Hyjal (Pre-3.0 kills only): N/a
• Black Temple (Pre-3.0 kills only): N/a
• Sunwell Plateau (Pre-3.0 kills only): N/a

• Naxxramas Normal: Kel'Thuzad
• The Obsidian Sanctum Normal: Sartharion + 3 Drakes
• The Eye of Eternity Normal: Malygos
• Naxxramas Heroic: Kel'Thuzard
• The Obsidian Sanctum Heroic: Sartharion
• The Eye of Eternity Heroic: Malygos
• Trial of the Crusader 10 & 25: Anub
• Icecrown Citadel 10 & 25: Deathbringer Saurfang

Guild Information:

• Previous Guild Name(s): Contingency
• Reason(s) for leaving: Guild broke up/transferred

• Previous Guild Name(s): Ewiges Licht
• Reason(s) for leaving: Personal issues that precluded me from playing.

• Reason for joining DMT: I'm a progression oriented person. I want to be a member of a guild that knows the content, comes prepared and has everyone working to fulfill their potential. I'm also LIFELONG friends with faulty, the amazing mage that tops your meters when he doesn't fail and die.

Character Information:

• Gear / Talent Specialization(Armory Link): http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Crushridge&n=Opprobrium

You can see both of my sets of gear at http://www.wowheroes.com
My protection spec is a standard prot build with crusade for threat.

Protection Spec

• Major Glyphs: Glyph of Judgement, Glyph of Seal of Vengeance, Glyph of Righteous Defense
• Minor Glyphs: Glyph of Sense Undead, Glyph of Blessing of Kings, Glyph of Lay on Hands

Retribution Spec

• Major Glyphs: Glyph of Judgement, Glyph of Seal of Vengeance, Glyph of Consecrate
• Minor Glyphs: Glyph of Sense Undead, Glyph of Blessing of Kings, Glyph of Lay on Hands

Other:

• Times available to play/raid: Most evenings 5pm-11pm Server Time
• Are you willing to respec for the guild?: Yes. I have gear and experience playing Prot and Ret.
• Do you have friends in the guild?: FAULTY
• Exalted Reputation(s): Everything but Ashen verdict which is about 60% into revered.
• Current Profession(s): Inscription and Enchanting. I have an alt with Alchemy/Herbalism.

• Why should we pick you: I'm a dedicated raider that doesn't flake and strives to preform at the absolute maximum my character can. I'm willing to take criticism but I'm no wilting flower either. I've been in progression guilds before, I've hammered at bosses for months before succeeding. I'm the kind of guy chomping at the bit to raid and top meters/kill bosses. I've got a protection and retribution set that is competitive for current content. I'd be equally happy tanking or topping out at my full potential. I have an additional 60 badges of frost which allows me to rent out the tanking trinket should I be needed to tank.

• Do you farm anything? (gear, reputation, primals...): I fish up feasts and have maxed rep. My alt provides flasks and pots and I have every available enchant outside of raids.
• Do you have a WWS link? (Mostly intended for damage classes): I know how to make parses but don't have one available at this time(it expired).

However, I recently ran a pug with one of your other apps.

Here is a meter of our twins kill. I'll get a wwl parse soon.

You can see in my UI that I don't click. Who even has keyboard turning bound?

LoLigottrolled

I STILL see it. In my personal opinion, keys "A" and "D" for L and R strafe allllll the way.

Your gems don't as STRONG as they could be...

Also, we're all jacked up on ret pallies and cocaine right now and I would have a difficult time getting you a spot in a raid.

Which one of my gems do you think is a problem?

For paladins with 2p T9, yellow sockets with at least a +4 strength bonus provide more DPS when socketed with 10 Strength, 10 crit rating.

This is sustained by loading up rawr.

I'd like to point out that I'm not ONLY applying for ret. I've got a tanking set and am happy to do that as well.

I don't trust rawr in the least. Your statement about 2p T9 is correct if EJ is up to date, but at the 232 level those pieces should be incinerated ASAP.

Interestingly, with high enough AP(I believe around 7k) the same rule applies even without the 2p t9 bonus.

That said, 2p t9.5(258 ilevel) 2pt10.5(277) is JUST under BiS for paladins which is 4p t10.5. The tier nine set bonus is just that good.

You are right to be wary of rawr, it is just a MODEL and it is known to have deficiencies. That said, it's still useful to try and back up your in-game decisions empirically.

Personally, I think you should be accepted purely because of your UI.

Posting an SS of your \Interface\Addons folder wouldn't hurt, either >.>
